The International Women’s Day will be celebrated on 8th of this month. Government has taken series of initiatives to empower women. People are using the #IWD 2020 and #BetiPadhaoDeshBadhao to share uplifting stories in the run up to International Women’s Day.
In the 21st century, women are at the forefront of achievements in sports, literature, science and other sectors.

The government has been proactive in promoting women empowerment through schemes, facilities and awards such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao; Matru Vandana Saptah; Mahila E-haat; One Stop Centre Scheme; Working Women’s Hostels; Swadhar Greh; and Nari Shakti Puruskar. There have been various efforts in areas of education, skill and entrepreneurship as well.

In a world where women are no longer confined to the household, they are immensely contributing to growth of enterprises, hence to the economy, and therefore, overall social development.
